Blocking service - general informationURL blocking of both web and FTP sites works by our blocking server matching the requested web site's URL (eg: www.badstuff.com) with our blocking library list for our default blocking categories. If an exact match is made, then our blocking page will be displayed.
As no technology-based system is perfect, occasionally a site that should be blocked is allowed through unblocked or a site may be blocked in error.
In the case of a site blocked in error it is usually because the site is using hosting techniques predominately used by pornographers. We are currently blocking over 2,000 new sites each day.
